Community members, staff, and Council gathered this morning at Rotary Park in Markdale to celebrate the official naming and opening of Grey
Highlands’ newest trail: Armstrong Creek Trail.

The trail is located at Rotary Park in Markdale. The creek and park were revitalized in 2018 with the help of the Saugeen Valley Conservation
Authority, GSS Engineering, Seeley and Arnill Construction, Trout Unlimited Canada, TC Energy, Enbridge Gas, The Rotary Club of Markdale and the Ontario Wildlife Foundation.

The municipality received financial support from Capstone Infrastructure and Bruce Power to help fund the project.

The trail was created once the revitalization of the stream was complete. It is 600 meters long, with interpretive signage along its path. Benches, tables, and rest areas can be found along the way as the trail follows the stream to the end, where the trail loops to head back.

The new trail is part of the municipality’s plan to have more outdoor areas where people can get active and enjoy nature.

Visitors to the trail are welcome to post their experiences on the municipality’s new citizen engagement site ConnectGreyHighlands.ca.
