The Clearview Youth Centre is proud to announce its success in securing $5,500 of funding for Canadian Women in Sport from The Next Play program.

The funding and education provided will allow the youth centre to offer free fitness programming this year beginning June 5.

The Next Play is for Ontario-based active recreation organizations that are ready to engage more girls and gender-diverse participants from diverse backgrounds. Active recreation includes sports and physical activity programs as well as cultural and game-based programming.

The first of two programs this year, Learn to Lawn Bowl, will be offered on Mondays from June 5 to 26 between 4 and 5:30 p.m. at the Stayner Lawn Bowling Club, free for girls and gender-diverse participants. The second program will be offered in the fall.

Youth centre co-ordinator Courtney Rogers is excited to engage girls and gender-diverse youth by providing free fitness programs within our community.

“The Clearview Youth Centre is excited to be a part of The Next Play program. Staff will be trained in providing girl-centred programming, and with this funding, we will be offering our first-ever girl-centred program.”
