Former Goodyear plant demolished

The plant closed in 2007
Goodyear demolition
The former Goodyear building has been demolished.

Demolition crews have flattened the long-empty concrete building that once housed a Goodyear hose plant.

The plant, located at 101 Mountain Road was purchased by US-Based Carlyle group in March 2007 and was closed later that year.

The Town of Collingwood issued a demolition permit in November 2018 to the site's former owners, but demolition didn't start until this year.

The former owner of the site, Collingwood Prime Realty Holdings Corp. was charged under the Canada Environmental Protection Act due to hazardous materials – specifically polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) – on site. Eventually, the PCBs were removed and disposed of.

The demolition permit conditions required the owner of the property to conduct additional testing for hazardous materials as part of the demolition works.
