Five new COVID-19 cases at schools in Simcoe County today

Trio of Barrie schools report one new case each as of Monday, along with one in Tottenham and one in Orillia

There are five new COVID-19 cases being reported in schools across Simcoe County since Friday.

There are 43 total active COVID-19 cases being reported by local school boards at Simcoe County schools as of 4 p.m. on Nov. 8.

Three Barrie schools – St. Monica’s Catholic School, Trillium Woods Elementary School and Eastview Secondary School – are all reporting one new COVID-19 case today. There is one classroom closure each at St. Monica’s and Trillium Woods.

Tecumseth South Central Public School in Tottenham is reporting one case and one classroom closure today.

The MonAvenir Catholic School Board has reported a staff member has tested positive for COVID-19 at ÉÉC Samuel-de-Champlain in Orillia as of Nov. 8. Three students previously tested positive for COVID-19 between Nov. 2 and 5 at the school. Two classrooms have been closed, and the health unit has declared an active outbreak at the school.

The Simcoe County District School Board has 10 confirmed active cases at nine schools listed. They are:

  • Algonquin Ridge Elementary School, Barrie, one case, one class closed.
  • Ferndale Woods Elementary School, Barrie, one case, one classroom closed.
  • Honourable Earl Rowe Public School, Bradford, one case.
  • Shanty Bay Public School, one case, one classroom closed.
  • Tecumseth South Central Public School in Tottenham, one case and one classroom closure
  • Trillium Woods Elementary School in Barrie, one case, one classroom closure.
  • Bear Creek Secondary School, Barrie, two cases
  • Innisdale Secondary School, Barrie, one case
  • Eastview Secondary School in Barrie, one case

Willow Landing Elementary School and Assikinack Public School, both in Barrie, are still in active outbreak according to the health unit. The school board is reporting all active cases at the both schools are now resolved.

According to the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, there are currently 28 active cases spread across 10 schools:

  • Holy Cross Catholic School, Innisfil, eight cases, three closed classrooms. This school has been in outbreak since Oct. 22.
  • Saint Gabriel the Archangel Catholic School in Barrie has one case and one classroom closure.
  • Sister Catherine Donnelly Catholic School in Barrie is reporting one case and one classroom closure.
  • St. Angela Merici Catholic School, Bradford, two cases, two classrooms closed.
  • St. Bernadette Catholic School, Barrie, one case, two classrooms closed.
  • St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School in Barrie, nine cases and four classroom closures. This school has been in outbreak since Nov. 1.
  • St. Mary's Catholic School, Collingwood, one case, one classroom closed
  • St. Monica's Catholic School in Barrie, one new case and one classroom closure
  • St. Joseph's Catholic High School, Barrie, two cases, three classrooms closed
  • St. Peter's Catholic Secondary School, Barrie, two cases, three classrooms closed

La Source Elementary School in Barrie, which is part of the Conseil scolaire Viamonde board reported one active case on Oct. 29.
