FIS World Cup brings fast-paced snowboard races to Blue Mountain

The event features a downhill side-by-side snowboard slalom race

The Alpine Snow TKO FIS World Cup parallel giant slalom snowboard event took place at Blue Mountain on Jan. 26 and 27. 

The event features a head-to-head slalom race with snowboard athletes racing side by side and the winner moving to the next round. 

On Thursday, Jan. 26, Switzerland's Ladina Jenny topped the women's podium, followed by Italy's Lucia Dalmasso and Austria's Sabine Schoeffmann. On Friday, Ramona Hofmeister of Germany won the day for the women after an intense head-to-head with Switzerland’s Julie Zogg . Austrian Daniela Ulbing took third, her fourth podium of the Alpine World Cup season.

On the men's side, Jan. 26, Karl Benjamin took the win, followed by Korea's Sangho Lee and Poland's Oskar Kwiatkowski. On Jan. 27, Poland’s Oskar Kwiatkowsk took the top spot on the men’s side, besting Alexander Payer of Austria in the big final. Italy’s Roland Fischnaller rounded out the podium in third.
