On Thursday, May 13, the CGMH Foundation Young Professionals Committee hosted their inaugural event, In This Together, a culinary experience in partnership with three South Georgian Bay restaurant partners in support of Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH).

Over 500 people enjoyed an in-home, three-course dining experience with proceeds successfully raising the $22,000 needed to bring an innovative Virtual Pediatric Critical Care Consult Program to the CGMH Emergency Department. This high-fidelity virtual care solution will be a partnership between CGMH and the SickKids Critical Care Team and will allow the SickKids team to have a visual feed on patients, as well as access to their charts through Connecting Ontario, improving quality of care and patient outcomes all from the CGMH Emergency Department. Because this event exceeded its fundraising goal, two additional pieces of equipment will be purchased for the Obstetrics Department and Emergency Department.

The Young Professionals Committee was recently formed in 2021 and consists of a dynamic group of young leaders with the desire to support fundraising efforts for the Collingwood Hospital. A group of volunteers, this committee is highly engaged in our community and has a strong desire to support the future of healthcare in South Georgian Bay via unique, creative and successful events.

"Our committee is thrilled with the results of our inaugural event and can’t thank the community enough for coming together to support this fantastic cause! I am very proud to be leading this group of talented young professionals who brought their wide variety of skills and attributes together to make this event such a success. I know the impact that the new virtual paediatric critical care program, special gynae stretcher and epidural pump will have in supporting our community will be tremendous. Thank you so much for all of your support to make this possible!" – Rebecca Meesters, Chair, CGMHF Young Professionals Committee

The CGMH Foundation Young Professionals Committee would like to thank local partners Men With Knives Catering, Copper Blues Bar & Grill and Mylar & Loreta’s for providing unique and creative menus for the In This Together event.  In addition, the support of the following sponsors was instrumental to the success of the event: 95.1 The Peak FM, Clairvest Group Inc., Agnora, RBC, Creemore Springs, CIBC, Girl Time Inc., TD Canada Trust, RBC Wealth Management - Nick Hamilton, Tim Hortons, Reinhart’s Cider, Barriston Law, Fawcett Funeral Home, Gowling WLG, Beaver Valley Ski Club, A.G.
