A home was destroyed by fire off Mountain Road on Thursday afternoon.
Collingwood Fire deputy chief Dan Thurman said the call came in at about 2 p.m. that a residence near Mountain Road off Tenth Line was fully engulfed in flames.
“We probably had it under control within an hour,” said Thurman.
Collingwood Fire worked with Blue Mountain and Clearview Fire to get the blaze under control.
“It was because there was no water source out here, so we used our tankers to shuttle water back and forth,” said Thurman.
Thurman said they don’t yet have a value associated with the damage.
“It’s extensive damage throughout the home. No one’s moving back in,” he said.
There were no residents in the home at the time of the fire, and Thurman said they have all been accounted for and are safe.
The residents do have a pet that is currently unaccounted for, however Thurman said the family is unsure if the pet was in the home at the time of the fire.
The cause has not yet been determined pending an investigation.
“There is no criminal intent suspected. At this time it’s being treated as accidental, but we still have to do our investigation,” he said.
Thurman said the investigation is not affecting traffic flow on Mountain Road.
