Epilepsy Simcoe County is proud to be hosting a public Information Session on the Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP), presented by Danisha Allen on March 19.

Danisha Allen is an experienced financial advisor who is passionate about helping people gain clarity around their finances, causing them to become strategic and confident about achieving their financial goals.

She gives back to the community by educating individuals about the rarely talked about - but tremendously valuable - RDSP.

The Registered Disability Savings Plan is an account which helps individuals with disabilities (or their parents and loved ones) build long-term financial security with the help of Government Grants and other incentives.

“I reached out to Epilepsy Simcoe County because I understand the concerns that grip parents and family members of individuals with disabilities around what would become of their child financially if they were unable to provide care and support,” says Allen.  “This concern is valid and people deserve to know that there is hope and strategies available to diminish that stress.”

This seminar is geared towards anyone who has ever wondered about the long-term financial future of their child or loved-one with a disability.

“There are enough things in life to be concerned about, and I think finances should bring confidence and security.  If a precious mom or dad can sleep a little better at night, I did my part.”

The session is free and open to anyone interested; it takes place on Tuesday, March 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room in the Bayfield Mall. Individuals should RSVP online by clicking here.

Epilepsy Simcoe County (ESC) was established in 1978 as a volunteer organization to assist the people of Simcoe County with education, support, awareness and advocacy. They are located in downtown Barrie and serve their member base in the Greater Simcoe County area. ESC provides people living with epilepsy education, understanding and support to get help they may need in a caring and understanding environment.

Epilepsy is a common disorder with over 300,000 Canadians affected and over 50 million people world wide. It is estimated 1 in 100 people in Simcoe County live with this disorder.
