Eager skiers invade Blue Mountain Resort (12 photos)

Skiers and snowboarders of all ages lined up bright and early hoping to catch the first chair as Blue records earliest opening date in history

Blue Mountain made history this morning.

The local ski hill opened today - the earliest in its 79-year history.

Many local skiers and snowboarders arrived this morning to take advantage of the opening.

The Silver Bullet High-Speed Six Person chairlift is operating, giving access to Memory Lane and Tranquility, two top-to-bottom runs. The Easy Rider Magic Carpet is also operating. A hike park isavailable for guests on the Undergrad trail.

The runs are open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today, Saturday, and (weather-permitting) Sunday as well. Lift tickets will be $29 plus tax, youth and senior tickets are $14.
