The Collingwood Downtown BIA has announced it is cancelling the final Christmas market originally scheduled for this Friday evening (Dec. 18).

In a news release, the BIA said the decision was a result of the region's shift into red "control" restrictions under the province's COVID-19 Response Framework and consultation with the local health unit.

The Christmas market was a new venture this year, featuring Collingwood Farmers' Market vendors and local businesses as well as walking entertainment by circus performers and local dancers performing in downtown shop windows.

Santa Claus will, however, be making one more stop in Collingwood for visits with children on Dec. 19 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

There is a sleigh set up in front of the federal building with a plexiglass shield installed and sanitization protocols in place.
