The need for blood donations continues through the COVID-19 pandemic, so Canadian Blood Services is still operating mobile clinics in local communities.

As Canada's blood bank is kept stocked by volunteer donations, the mobile clinics are essential even under stay-at-home orders.

During the pandemic, Canadian Blood Services has reduced the capacity of donors at mobile clinics and is requiring each person who attends to book an appointment in advance. There are no walk-in donations accepted.

Each donor must complete a COVID-19 screening process and wear a face covering for their donation. For more details, visit blood.ca.

There are two clinics coming up in the area.

In Collingwood, there will be a blood donor clinic at Living Water Resorts Bear Estate (300 Balsam St.) on Wednesday, May 19 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In Wasaga Beach, there will be a blood donor clinic at the RecPlex (1724 Mosley St.) on Saturday, May 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

You can book an appointment for either clinic online at blood.ca or by calling 1-888-2DONATE.
