Digital Preservation Day is scheduled for this coming Saturday, Nov. 4, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Branch 6, Royal Canadian Legion in Owen Sound.

This is an opportunity to better understand and preserve the diaries, letters, artifacts, documents or images that have been stored away in your closets, attic or basement. We can scan and interpret images, documents and artifacts from the First and Second World Wars. We can also help research military personnel from this era.

This service is free of charge. All we ask is that we be allowed to keep digital copies of the information you shared with us. A team of students from Owen Sound District Secondary School will be helping us with the scanning.

Please use the main door of Branch 6, Royal Canadian Legion, to see us on Saturday. Thank you to Branch 6, Royal Canadian Legion, for hosting us.

Not only are we willing to assist with documentation of any artifacts, documents and images related to the First and Second World Wars, but there are three special areas of interest for our investigation:

  1. Information regarding local soldiers, sailors and aircrew including women who served during D-Day and the Normandy campaign.
  2. Information regarding local Royal Canadian Air Force aircrew and members of the Women’s Division who served during the Second World War.
  3. Information regarding those who served with the Grey and Simcoe Foresters/26 Army Tank Regiment during the Second World War.
