For their ninth annual ride from Toronto to Montreal, the Racer Sportif/Equipe78 club riders have chosen the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation for their charity of choice.

On Aug. 11, the team will cycle over 600 kilometres showcasing their dedication to supporting vital health-care services in our community.

“These have been a very difficult past three years in health care, and we have all experienced an unprecedented crisis,” says team member Daniel More. “This year’s ride is dedicated to one of the best hospitals in our community and to the excellent team of professionals that have not only been battling COVID-19 and shortages in the health-care environment but doing this amidst providing continuity to all the other medical needs of the community.”

The funds raised by the cycling team will be directed towards the purchase of a new MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) machine, an essential diagnostic tool that will help our team of health-care professionals make accurate and timely diagnoses, leading to better treatment plans for our patients. With this state-of-the-art equipment, we can enhance our diagnostic capabilities, reduce wait times, and ensure that our patients receive the right care at the right time.

“We are honoured and grateful to have the Racer Sportif riders’ support in our mission to provide outstanding care for South Georgian Bay,” says Michael Dick, board chair for the Collingwood G&M Hospital Foundation. “Their commitment to raising funds for our new MRI machine is a testament to the power of community and the positive change that can be achieved when we come together.”
