Complaint leads police to issue several charges against driver

A 41-year-old man was charged with impaired operation of a vehicle, driving while under suspension and other offences after being stopped by police in Grey Highlands

Police charged a 41-year-old man from Wellington North with several offences, including impaired driving, after investigating a traffic complaint in Grey Highlands. 

Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police responded to a complaint just before 4 p.m. on Dec. 3 on Highway 10 in Grey Highlands and stopped the vehicle referenced in the complaint. 

"The officer determined that the driver was displaying signs of impairment and placed the driver under arrest," stated a news release from Grey Bruce OPP. "The driver was transported to an OPP detachment for further testing." 

The driver, a 41-year-old man from Wellington North, was charged with the following offences, according to OPP. 

  • Operation while impaired
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Obstruct plate
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle
  • Possession of a schedule I substance (two counts)

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.
