Colts take away victory and return for Valentine's Day home game

The Collingwood Colts made the trip south as they crossed the border for a matchup against the Buffalo Jr Sabres yesterday (Feb. 12).

The Colts, looking to gain valuable points and continue the charge up the OJHL standings. The Colts opened scoring in Buffalo when forward #19 Matthew Zebedee buried the puck on the PowerPlay.

Collingwood added to the lead in the second period as forward #16 Tyler Ignazzitto scores on the man advantage, giving the Colts a 2-0 lead. During the final minutes of the second period the Colts added another power play goal thanks to defenceman #71 Eric Lalonde.

With a three-goal lead heading to the final period, the Colts kept charging as Collingwood forward #67 Patrick Brown scored on a semi-breakaway. Late in the final frame forward #21 Rocco Testa-Basi added some more insurance giving us five goals on the night. Buffalo scored on a penalty shot to make it 5-1. Collingwood Colts netminder #31 Andrew Rose was stellar making 49 saves to secure the win for the Mike Jackson GM Collingwood Colts.

The Colts return home Friday night (Feb. 14) versus the Aurora Tigers.

After last night's victory the Colts are in second place for their playoff division.
