The Collingwood Colts Junior A hockey club is showing its support of the County’s Long-term Care (LTC) and Seniors Services Bus Fundraising Campaign by hosting “Give a Lift” Hockey Night on Feb. 21, 2020 during its game again the Toronto Patriots.
$5 from every ticket sold will be donated to the purchase of a new resident bus for Sunset Manor in Collingwood. Anyone interested in purchasing tickets to the game or supporting the Give a Lift campaign are encouraged to visit https://secure.ticketpro.ca/?aff=cwcolts#achat_CWC1920G25 and enter the promo code GIVEALIFT when prompted.
Additional fundraising efforts will occur during the game. The Give a Lift campaign was launched in 2019. In total, the County of Simcoe aims to raise $450,000 to purchase four accessible buses to serve County-owned LTC facilities in Beeton, Penetanguishene, Collingwood and Orillia.
Donations will go towards replacing buses that were originally purchased in 2006, which provide approximately 20 outings per month at each facility and help LTC residents with mobility or other health-related barriers maintain connections with their communities. Donations to each of the four County-operated facilities can be made in-person at a LTC home or online at simcoe.ca/givealift.
“A big thanks to the Collingwood Colts for hosting Give a Lift Hockey Night and supporting the campaign,” said Warden George Cornell. “These buses are truly vital to the continued socialization of our residents who rely on them to take part in activities, programs and services in their communities.
