The Unity Collective of Collingwood is pleased to announce the inaugural Wayfinder Grant valued at $1,000 and intended to support the principles under which the Unity Collective was formed.

A Wayfinder is an indicator used to assist people in navigating to a particular location or in a particular direction. The intent of the Wayfinder Grant is to identify those individuals who stand out as helping all of us to navigate toward a more inclusive future through their actions and inspiration.

Funded by an anonymous donor, and open to any resident of Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Clearview, or the Town of the Blue Mountains, the Wayfinder Grant recipient will be an individual who has actively worked to build a community that welcomes and celebrates diversity, is free of barriers to inclusion, and where all will feel a sense of belonging.

While this grant may be used for scholastic pursuits, it not bound by this criterion. It is hoped that the funding will assist an individual to achieve whatever ‘next steps’ are required to help that person continue their path of positive community involvement. The minimum age for applicants is 17 with no upper limit.

A successful application will reflect, as much as possible, upon the Unity Collective’s stated values:

  • Demonstrated foundation of trust
  • Globally inspired, Collingwood focused
  • Respecting and promoting our shared history and stories
  • Inspired by action and bold ideas
  • Building bridges across all groups in the community

Applicants are asked to respond to five points in their submission:

1. Tell us about your view of the world and what needs to change.

2. Tell us what contribution you have made toward this change, or what contributions you would like to make.

3. Tell us what would you like to see happen next, and what personal plans are you making in this direction.

4. Tell us how $1,000 will help you, personally, to achieve this goal.

5. Tell us how you will know when you’ve been successful in your plan.

Submissions (and form accepted: written, audio, or video) will be sent to [email protected] and the application deadline is June 11, 2021.
