It’s been a long time coming, but plans for the redevelopment of the iconic Collingwood Grain Terminals will finally be revealed next week.

On March 27 at 5 p.m., developers Streetcar Developments Inc and Dream Unlimited will present their vision for the Terminals in council chambers.

On Aug. 19, 2022, the town announced Streetcar/Dream were the successful proponent for the project after an extensive request for proposals process.

While fine details have been kept confidential, the Streetcar/Dream plan is to reuse the Terminals by creating a full-service boutique hotel that includes restaurants and events spaces while highlighting the heritage attributes of the Terminals building.

The plan also includes enhancements to the public space on the spit including a "reimagined Millennium Park."

Finally, the developer has proposed a new marina building and facilities that "will transform the Collingwood Harbour into a marine destination unmatched on Georgian Bay and beyond."

According to the town's release back in August, the Streetcar/Dream proposal followed the guiding principles established by the town for the Terminals development project, which include structural preservation of the terminals, and optimized public access to the spit.

The town has been working with the developer since August to hammer out details of a memorandum of understanding prior to presenting the plans to the public.

The open public meeting will take place on Monday, March 27 at 5 p.m. as part of council’s regular meeting. Any members of the public may attend in person in council chambers at Collingwood town hall, or virtually by Zoom webinar. The meeting will also be livestreamed on the town’s YouTube channel here.

The town has kept a page on the Engage Collingwood website dedicated to the Collingwood Terminals revitalization process, you can visit it here.
