The final report and recommendations from the Collingwood Judicial Inquiry are due to be released sometime this summer.

A deadline the town’s acting CAO, Sonya Skinner, said the inquiry team is still on track to meet.

Skinner told council during a meeting today she was speaking with the inquiry team in a ‘meet-and-greet’ to let them know she had taken over for CAO Fareed Amin, and the inquiry team let her know they still expect to have a report ready this summer.

The report will contain recommendations from Justice Frank Marrocco as well as his findings from the Collingwood Judicial Inquiry, which included eight months of hearings starting in April 2019.

The judicial inquiry website confirms the report will be ready this summer.

Since February 2018, when council called the inquiry, the investigation has yielded about half a million documents ranging from single-sentence emails to multi-page contracts, staff reports, and meeting minutes.

Public hearings began in April 2019, and there were about 61 days of hearings. The documents collected were organized with two “foundation documents” amounting to more than 650 pages of chronology and data.

Skinner said the inquiry team is looking into ways of releasing the report publicly and in Collingwood. She said typically the judge overseeing the inquiry (in this case Justice Marrocco) will deliver the report and key findings in the town where the inquiry took place.

No specific date has been set for the release of the report.
