As of last week, masks are no longer mandatory in many areas of Collingwood General and Marine Hospital.

As of June 29, the hospital announced in a news release that they will no longer require masks to be worn in the hospital’s front lobby, hallways and communal areas. Masks will remain mandatory for health care workers, volunteers, patients, visitors, essential care partners vendors and contractors in patient waiting rooms, waiting areas, exam rooms and inpatient rooms.

“CGMH has implemented changes to its in-hospital masking protocols based on local and provincial health recommendations, and in alignment with changes made by regional health-care partners,” notes the release.

“CGMH remains a mask-friendly facility for all those wishing to wear a mask.”

As part of the release, the hospital announced it is also returning to its pre-pandemic visitor policy.

Under the policy, visiting hours are flexible to accommodate the patient's circumstance, however, no more than two visitors at a time are permitted in inpatient rooms. Patients in the emergency department are to have no more than one visitor at a time.
