COLLINGWOOD GENERAL AND MARINE HOSPITAL

Due to the tremendous effect and pressure hospitals across Ontario are experiencing due to wave 3, Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) is rolling back its Designated Visitor Policy once again.
The Designated Visitor Policy has four phases the organization can move between, based on the current status of the hospital, the community, and based on provincial directives from Ontario Health, which guide the visitor process.
At this time, CGMH is moving to Phase 0 (from Phase 1), effective Friday, April 16, which restricts visitation to essential visitors only. At this time, designated visitors are deemed essential for:
- children under the age of 18
- birth partners
- end of life patients
- critically ill patients
- life altering diagnosis patients
- patients with challenging behaviours
- patients with significant developmental or intellectual disabilities
For designated visitors that continue to be deemed essential, the same process will continue: enter through the main doors of the hospital, clean your hands, change your mask to a hospital-grade mask and answer a series of screening questions (regardless of vaccination status).
Essential designated visitors that pass the screening will then be provided with a visitor badge and directed to the appropriate unit to sign the visitor log. Essential designated visitors will be given the appropriate PPE and provided with education by unit employees, depending on the area of visit.
Visitors are to remain in the designed room they are visiting and are asked to directly leave the hospital at the end of their visit. The cafeteria area is closed for public use at the present time.
