Collingwood Clippers mark end of season with cardboard boat race

As part of the end-of-season fun meet, the Clippers hosted a lip sync battle, invitational swim races, and cardboard boat races at Centennial Aquatic Centre

The Collingwood Clippers welcomed about 450 swimmers to Centennial Aquatic Centre for the annual end-of-season invitational meet on June 24 and 25.

Clippers president Naomi Paterson said there were swimmers from nine different teams participating.

In addition to the regular races between swimmers from pre-competitive to regional, provincial, and national-level competition, there are fun events like cardboard boat races, lip sync competitions, and a dress-up swim for graduating athletes.

New this year was a lifeguard relay and two relay teams of masters swimmers from Georgian Bay Squall.

Some of the Clippers athletes will continue to train through July and August to prepare for Ontario junior and senior championships. Registration opens August 1 for returning members and August 15 for new members for next season.
