Collingwood Blues announce new general manager

The former Oakville Blades head coach was named OJHL coach of the year in 2019 and is taking on his role with the Collingwood Blues effective immediately

The Mike Jackson GM Collingwood Blues Jr A Hockey Club is excited to announce the addition of Mike Tarantino as our General Manager.

Mike will take over duties effective immediately and we are thrilled to welcome Mike and his Family To the Collingwood Blues organization.

Mike is a certified High School Teacher with over 10 years in the classroom. He is a former NCAA player who was named captain, awarded the "teammate award," and was a multiple all-conference player at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in the NCAA. He earned all-american honours in 2004.

As a coach, Mike served as a graduate assistant at Bowling Green in 2005 where he earned his MBA. He has coached the Mississauga Reps Midget team to the 2010 National Championship game, losing 3-2 to Morgan Reilly's Notre Dame Hounds.

In 2013-2014, Mike was the General Manager of the Toronto Patriots who won the OJHL (Buckland Cup), Central Canadian Championship (Dudley Hewitt Cup), and advanced to the National Junior A Championship tournament. He was named the OJHL Executive of the Year in 2014.

In 2018-2019, Mike was the Head Coach for the Oakville Blades who recently completed their best regular season in their 52 history going 44-5-5, winning the OJHL (Buckland Cup), Central Canadian Championship (Dudley Hewitt Cup), and losing 2-1 in the National Semi-finals.

The regular season, playoffs, and National Tournament results are all Blades record-setting accomplishments. Mike has helped numerous players move on to the OHL, NCAA, and U-Sports. He has coached four players who have been drafted to the NHL from the OJHL. He was named OHA and OJHL Coach of the Year in 2019.
