The Collingwood Climate Action Team (CCAT) is diving into some trash talk to kick the year off with a webinar featuring discussions about waste reduction and waste management.

On Thursday, Jan. 27, the group is hosting a webinar featuring guest speaker Sonam Bajwa, a solid waste planner with the Regional District of Nanaimo, who will speak about the city's innovative waste reduction and circular economy approach to waste management.

"Sonam will share Nanaimo's story on how they turned their landfill problem into a thriving marketplace, their successes, challenges, and what's next," states a news release from CCAT. "Imagine reducing what goes to landfill by 80 per cent!"

Also as part of the webinar, CCAT will feature local business owners and a Collingwood resident, who will talk about how they are sifting, sorting and adapting what they do with stuff they no longer need.

CCAT's Mary Jo McArthur-Scott, leader of the consumption and waste team, will be doing a deep dive into her garbage as the final piece of the webinar.
