At the April 26 Clearview Council meeting, council supported the recommendation made by staff, in consultation with Clearview’s community hall boards, to cancel the 2021 Small Halls Festival due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.

The difficult decision was made to cancel the 2021 festival originally scheduled for Sept. 30 - Oct. 3, 2021, with the health and safety of our community, hall board members, volunteers, and staff in mind. This third wave of the pandemic and the threat of the variants of concern increases the uncertainty about when it might be safe to gather once again.

“With careful consideration, we have to acknowledge that planning the award-winning Small Halls Festival for 2021 would be unrealistic in the current and unprecedented pandemic situation. It’s devastating to think that another year of festivals are affected; however, we only want to showcase the very best of rural living and the small halls, so once again, cancelling is the right thing to do,” said Amanda Murray, community culture and tourism coordinator.

We look forward to working with our hall boards, community partners and sponsors to welcome visitors when the time is right, and it is safe to do so. To learn more about the history of the festival and Clearview’s small halls, click here.
