CCI takes both games for Hockey Day in Collingwood

Collingwood's two high schools competed for bragging rights in a girls' and boys' hockey game on Wednesday night (Jan. 15)

Collingwood's high schools faced off in two hockey games last night with Collingwood Collegiate Institute emerging with the wins in both the girls' and boys' matches.

Jean Vanier Catholic High School and Collingwood Collegiate Institute met again for the annual Hockey Day in Canada on the ice at the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena last night. The CCI girls won 6-1 over Jean Vanier, and the CCI boys finished with a 5-2 win over Jean Vanier.

The event is held annually as a fundraiser and as the only game of the year where the two high schools compete on the same ice for bragging rights.

Last nights games also brought in $640 in donations, which will go to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Georgian Triangle.

The day-time tournament for local elementary schools has been postponed this year, likely to take place in the spring before the ice comes out.
