UPDATE: Explosions heard as fire destroys auto garage in Meaford

A huge crowd of onlookers gathered on Highway 26 as thick black smoke that could be seen for miles around shot skyward from the scene

A huge crowd of onlookers gathered on the highway as a massive fire Thursday night destroyed Johnny B’s Automotive and Car Care shop around 7 p.m.

Multiple fire departments responded to the blaze, which raged at the repair business located on Highway 26 just outside of Meaford’s downtown.

Thick black smoke could be seen for miles around and explosions from inside the building could be heard from blocks away.

Police, Grey County Paramedics and firefighters from Meaford, The Blue Mountains and the Inter-Township Fire Department were all on scene.

No information was available about the possible cause of the fire or any injuries."
