Boards report 45 active COVID cases in Simcoe County schools

Most of the cases are in Barrie schools, with two still reported active from St. Mary's in Collingwood

There are 45 total active COVID-19 cases being reported by local school boards at Simcoe County schools as of Nov. 5, with most cases in Barrie schools. 

The Simcoe County District School Board has nine confirmed active cases at seven schools listed. They are: 

  • Algonquin Ridge Elementary School, Barrie, one case, one class closed.
  • Assikinack Public School, Barrie, one, one classroom closed. This school has been in outbreak since Oct. 22.
  • Ferndale Woods Elementary School, Barrie, one case, one classroom closed. 
  • Honourable Earl Rowe Public School, Bradford, one case. 
  • Shanty Bay Public School, one case, one classroom closed. 
  • Bear Creek Secondary School, Barrie, two cases.
  • Innisdale Secondary School, Barrie, two cases. 

According to the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, there are currently 32 active cases spread across 10 schools:

  • Father F.X. O'Reilly Catholic School, Tottenham, one case, and one classroom closure.
  • Holy Cross Catholic School, Innisfil, 10 cases, four closed classrooms. This school has been in outbreak since Oct. 22.
  • Saint Gabriel the Archangel Catholic School in Barrie has one case and one classroom closure.
  • Sister Catherine Donnelly Catholic School in Barrie is reporting one case and one classroom closure.
  • St. Angela Merici Catholic School, Bradford, two cases, two classrooms closed.
  • St. Bernadette Catholic School, Barrie, one case, two classrooms closed.
  • St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School in Barrie, nine cases and four classroom closures. This school has been in outbreak since Nov. 1.
  • St. Mary's Catholic School, Collingwood, two cases, two classrooms closed.
  • St. Joseph's Catholic High School, Barrie, Three cases, five classrooms closed.
  • St. Peter's Catholic Secondary School, Barrie, two cases, three classrooms closed.

The MonAvenir Catholic School Board has reported three students who attend ÉÉC Samuel-de-Champlain in Orillia have tested positive for COVID-19 between Nov. 2 and 5. Two classrooms have been closed, and the health unit has declared an active outbreak at the school.

La Source Elementary School in Barrie, which is part of the Conseil scolaire Viamonde board reported one active case on Oct. 29.
