NEWS RELEASE
TOWN OF THE BLUE MOUNTAINS
*************************
The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise the public that in response to the increased restrictions, community safety measures and enhanced enforcement measures announced by the Province this afternoon, effective 12:01 a.m. Saturday, April 17, all town playground structures, athletic fields, tennis courts, beaches and the skateboard park will be closed for public use. Outdoor trails will remain open for pass-through use and exercise only.

Town staff will be installing signage and fencing to identify the areas impacted as a result of these increased restrictions and safety measures. In addition, the Town will be updating the interactive map on the website that will highlight open and closed recreational areas during this period.

The Town reminds residents and visitors that the Tomahawk Golf Course and Recreational Area has not opened for the season and will remain closed until further notice. Public washrooms will not be opened, and portable toilets will not be installed, so please plan your trip accordingly. The Town will also be posting a notice at the dog park, reminding residents that public health recommendations must be maintained, including social distancing; otherwise, the dog park will be closed.

The facilities will be re-opened under the advice and direction of the public health unit when it is safe and acceptable to do so. Bylaw enforcement and the Ontario Provincial Police will be monitoring all areas.

The Town will continue to monitor the evolving situation and additional information will be provided as necessary.
