Overnight, a memorial at Awen Gathering Circle grew.

The memorial, which was intended to honour the loss of 215 children found buried in a mass grave outside of a residential school in B.C., was set up on Monday afternoon by town staff and members of the Unity Collective.

Jillian Morris, a member of the Unity Collective, led a non-public ceremony to honour and remember the loss of 215 children found buried in a mass grave outside of the Kamloops Indian Residential School in Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation territory.

The flowers and moccasins will remain in place for 215 hours (nine days).

As of Tuesday morning, more items had been left at the site to honour those who died, including multiple pairs of shoes and a teddy bear.
