GREY SAUBLE CONSERVATION FOUNDATION

The Grey Sauble Conservation Foundation awards an annual $1,000 scholarship to a graduating secondary school student entering a post-secondary program in an environmental or resource management related field.
In 2013, the scholarship award was renamed to honour Malcolm Kirk, who passed away in 2012.
Mr. Kirk was instrumental in acquiring almost 80 per cent of the landholdings that Grey Sauble Conservation Authority manages today.
The Grey Sauble Conservation Foundation is proud to announce that this year’s recipient of the Malcolm Kirk Environmental Scholarship is Erik Van Den Kieboom, a student from Owen Sound District Secondary School.
Erik is pursuing his post-secondary education in Environmental Sciences at the University of Guelph where he will be majoring in natural resources and conservation biology.
Erik’s appreciation for nature and interest in conservation was obvious to his high school educators, making him a very deserving recipient of this award.
In a recommendation letter for the scholarship, one teacher commented: “I do know that Erik will be deeply connected to conservation throughout his life, he has an unparalleled natural aptitude and passion for ecology.”
The Grey Sauble Conservation community would like to commend Erik on his dedication to conservation and wish him well during his academic journey!
Each year, the Grey Sauble Conservation Foundation accepts applications for this valuable scholarship to assist a high school graduate who is interested in pursuing a meaningful career in an environmental field.
The deadline for applications for next year’s scholarship is May 31, 2021.
