Hospice Georgian Triangle (HGT) and the HGT Foundation (HGTF) wish to inform our community that Campbell House now has all 10 patient beds in operation.

“With huge thanks to the incredible staff we are blessed to have at Campbell House, we are fully occupied as of Sunday, March 22,” shared Trish Rawn, interim executive director at HGT. “We were originally aiming for April 1, but in working closely with our healthcare partners including Collingwood General and Marine Hospital to prepare for the arrival of Covid-19 in our community, our team has moved mountains to get the four new beds open and occupied. We are very grateful for and proud of our front line workers at Campbell House.”

Further restrictions are now in place for visiting Campbell House. Be advised that patients and families must list a maximum of two family members/friends that will be allowed to visit a patient, and that only one visitor at any one time will be permitted in the patient room. All visitors will be actively screened upon arrival. Connections with other friends and family through online tools and phone calls are encouraged. Please also note that these restrictions will continue to change as is needed.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is not currently being utilized by staff as patients and visitors are being carefully screened. However, should it be required, our stock of PPE is low. If anyone in the community has N95 masks that they would be willing to provide to the Campbell House staff, it would be most welcome.

Please contact Trish Rawn at 705-444-2555 ext. 7520 to discuss if you wish to contribute to our mask stock. Financial donations to assist with extra supply purchases and other needs at this time are also most welcome. Online donations may be made at any time at www.hospicegeorgiantriangle.com.

HGT is encouraging our community to show their appreciation for all of the healthcare workers in South Georgian Bay. At 7:30 p.m. each evening, please consider stepping outside your door with a pot and a spoon, and make some noise in salute to these brave women and men who are caring for our most vulnerable in hospice, in hospital, in long-term care and in private homes. Take a photo or video of yourself and post it on our Hospice Georgian Triangle Facebook page, on Twitter @HospiceGT or on Instagram @hospice.gt so that all of our healthcare workers can feel the love.

The health, safety and well-being of our whole community as well as patients, visitors, volunteers and staff are of the utmost importance to us. HGT continues to follow direction and guidance from our public health authorities. We cannot stress enough the importance of good hand hygiene, cough etiquette, staying home and social distancing.

Janet Fairbridge, HGT Foundation Director added, “The Ontario government has asked us to do more by granting approval to open our additional four beds, so our need for operational support through donations continues to be crucial. Thank you for your ongoing support.”
