The leadership team at New Path Youth and Family Services hopes you will wear green during the first week of May to mark Children's Mental Health Week.

All this week, the team at New Path Youth and Family Services is encouraging Simcoe County residents to wear green, and to spend some time doing outdoor activities.

That's because May 1-7 is Children's Mental Health Week, and New Path marks the occasion annually with its Shining Green campaign. The idea is to encourage healthy habits and also to raise awareness about the importance of child and youth mental health.

The act of wearing green is meant to be a recognition of the many children and families struggling with mental health.

“With the warmer weather approaching, we are encouraging everyone to show their support of child and youth mental health by wearing the colour green and taking part in an outdoor physical activity to support mental wellness,” said Jim Harris, New Path CEO, in a news release. “We also want all children, youth and families to know that free, accessible and inclusive child and youth mental health services are available when and where you need them in your community – in-person, online and by phone.”

New Path is encouraging everyone to participate in showing their support by:
• wearing the colour green (shining green)
• taking part in an outdoor physical activity to support mental wellness
• sharing how you are shining green on social media using the hashtags #CMHW2023 #shinegreen #kidscantwait
• tagging New Path on FacebookTwitter or Instagram.

The colour green is used to celebrate child and youth mental health as it represents hope, growth, and transformation. Learn more: www.newpath.ca/cmhw2023
