The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 52 new COVID-19 cases and one death in its latest update posted Nov. 5.
The death reported today was a man from Muskoka District who was over 79 years old. He died on Nov. 4.
The new cases reported in the region today are as follows:
- Barrie (30): Nine youth under 18 years old, four people between 18 and 34 years old, seven people between 35 and 44 years old, seven people between 45 and 64 years old, and three people between 65 and 79 years old. Seven cases are outbreak-related, nine cases are linked to close contact transmission, four cases are listed as community-acquired (no known link), and the rest are still under investigation.
- Innisfil (5): Two youth under 18 years old, and three people between 18 and 34 years old. One case is outbreak-related, one is linked to close contact transmission, one is listed as community-acquired (no known link), and two are still under investigation.
- Bradford West Gwillimbury (5): Two youth under 18 years old, one person between 18 and 34 years old, one person between 35 and 44 years old, and one person between 45 and 64 years old. Two cases are linked to close contact, and one is listed as community-acquired (no known link).
- Orillia (2): One youth under 18 years old, and one person between 18 and 34 years old. One case is outbreak-related, and the other is still under investigation.
- New Tecumseth (5): One youth under 18 years old, three people between 18 and 34 years old, and one person between 35 an 44 years old. Three cases are linked to close contact transmission, and two are still under investigation.
- Muskoka District (5): Four people from Huntsville, and one person from Lake of Bays.
Included in the new cases reported today are 36 unvaccinated, two partially vaccinated, and 14 fully vaccinated people.
There are currently 247 active cases in the region.
Twenty-one people from Simcoe County are hospitalized with COVID-19.
Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 14,203 cases of COVID-19 with 13,688 of those cases recovered and 268 cases ending in death.
About 73 per cent of the population living in Simcoe-Muskoka (including children) have received both doses of vaccine and 76 per cent have had at least one dose of a vaccine.

- Willow Landing Elementary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 4, two cases
- ECC Samuel-de-Champlain public school, Orillia, declared Nov. 3, five cases
- St. Catherine of Siena Elementary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 1, eight cases
- Portage View Elementary School, Barrie, declared Oct. 22, two cases
- Assikinack Public School, Barrie, declared Oct. 22, 17 cases
- Holy Cross Public School, Innisfil, declared Oct. 15, 28 cases
Other ongoing outbreaks reported in Simcoe County include:
- Mapleview Community Church, Barrie, declared Nov. 4, seven cases
- Unnamed childcare facility, declared Nov. 4, two cases
- Unnamed fitness and recreation facility, declared Nov. 2, two cases
- Unnamed shelter, declared Nov. 1, 12 cases
- Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), Barrie in the transitional care unit, declared Oct. 29: 11 patient cases associated with the outbreak, plus fewer than five staff cases.
- Mill Creek Care Centre, Barrie, declared Oct. 15, fewer than five resident cases and fewer than five staff cases.
- Central North Correctional Centre, Penetanguishene, declared Oct. 18, 16 local cases
