40 new COVID cases reported in Grey Bruce today

Grey Bruce Health Unit reported 40 new COVID cases today, including four in Grey Highlands, two in The Blue Mountains and three in Meaford. 

Also reported in the latest health unit update were nine cases in West Grey, five in Owen Sound, five in Saugeen Shores, three in Arran-Elderslie, two in Huron-Kinloss, two in South Bruce, one in Georgian Bluffs, one in Hanover, one in Kincardine, one in South Bruce Peninsula, and one in Southgate. 

There are 187 active cases in the region, and at least one case has been confirmed as the omicron strain through genetic sequence testing. 

Four cases are currently hospitalized. The health unit has not specified the vaccination status of the hospitalized cases. 

To date, there have been 2,808 cases confirmed in Grey-Bruce with 2,593 recoveries and 16 deaths.
