CollingwoodToday welcomes letters to the editor at [email protected]. Please include your daytime phone number and address (for verification of authorship, not publication). The following letter is in response to an article about a possible strike by TVO workers, published Aug. 4.

It’s a disgrace that such a TV station is forced to underpay their talented broadcaster and other staff to such an extent as described in your article.

It demonstrates Ontario’s disregard for culture in general. Other countries are proud of their cultural institutions. They would be proud to train and foster such programming.

We are forcing our great talents to leave the country. It’s a crying shame that our provincial leaders are so blind to the importance of Canadian culture.

How and where would I learn about conflict resolution, new authors, new plays, open debates about new inventions and developments, etc.? Without my daily Agenda, I would be much poorer, and my kids and grandchildren were only watching TVOKids. We need decent funding.
