LETTER: Town budget should start as a blank page

Resident suggests several line items in town budget 'not needed'

With reference to your article concerning a tax increase of 1.7%, because the town plans on using funds from the surplus to keep the increase under 2%.

I disagree with this short-sighted approach.

It's just putting off until the future what needs to be done today. Perhaps the town should start with a blank piece of paper when they prepare their annual budget. They might then realize that a lot of their line items are not needed.
