LETTER: Residents worried 6-storey builds will make Collingwood feel like a city

Some residents remain opposed to an official plan recommendation to increase the allowable height for buildings near the downtown core

CollingwoodToday welcomes letters to the editor at [email protected] or via our website. Please include your daytime phone number and address (for verification of authorship, not publication). The following letters are in response to a suggestion in Collingwood's draft Official Plan to allow up to 6-storey buildings in some intersections in the downtown core.

Collingwood is a great town to visit or live in and one of the draws has always been the cozy, charming core.

Tall buildings would destroy the character and the vibe that we all love so much. Don't attempt to make it city-like, anyone who moved here from elswhere is trying to escape the city.

Most of the visitors are from the city because this is not the city.

Keep the maximum number of storeys as it has been.

Please, no more monstrosities like the Admiral Collingwood project.

Each time I pass by this building I feel that I am in downtown Toronto from which I came many years ago.

It takes away one of the reasons why many of us moved here. Cease and desist!
