On a recent visit to Collingwood, I encountered the new parking meters and attempted to pay with cash. After 15 minutes trying to figure out how to pay without using a credit card, I gave up and went into one store.
Coming back to my car, I found a ticket for $30.00. I will never be back to shop on the main street in Collingwood. As a senior, it is daunting to be faced with a screen and the only option of using a credit card when coming into a community to shop on main street.
Town council should take into consideration seniors’ needs in using technology; lost business for local shops; and the cost of wages to enforce parking meters before installing them.
