HALF LOAD RESTRICTIONS LIFTED EARLY ON APRIL 17, 2024

The Town of Collingwood would like to advise the public that as of Wednesday, April 17, half-load restrictions have been lifted.

Reduced Load Restrictions are put in place to protect municipal roadways and roadway infrastructure during the annual thawing period from the first day of March until the last day of April each year.  This by-law restricts the passage of vehicles on municipal roadways to not exceed a weight of 5000 kilograms per axle when frost is coming out of the ground.

The County of Simcoe has advised its member municipalities that as of April 17, 2024, they will be lifting their load restrictions on roadways within the County.  This decision has been based on the thawing period and warmer temperatures, along with following the Ministry of Transportation’s technical guidance through the use of the Ministry’s “Reduced Load Period Calculator” tool, Zone 4.

The Town of Collingwood will be following the County’s lead and direction on this initiative and will be lifting our load restriction period at the same time as the County on April 17, 2024. The Town would like to thank the community for their cooperation during the restricted load period.
