The Ontario-wide shutdown starts today, here's what's open and closed in Collingwood

Non-essential businesses are temporarily closed for an Ontario-wide shutdown.

The measure is to curb the spread of COVID-19 and is in effect for 28 days for southern Ontario. It starts today (Dec. 26). 

In Collingwood, town hall is closed for the Christmas holiday, but will reopen Jan. 4 at 8:30 a.m. You can also email [email protected] or call 705-445-1030 for town services.

Central Park Arena, Eddie Bush Memorial Arena and Centennial Aquatic Centre will be closed for the duration of the shutdown. Collingwood Museum will be closed for patrons but open for curbside pickup of retail items.

Collingwood Public Library is still offering counter service for pick up and drop off of items only with a limit of six patrons inside the library and no in-person browsing. Items can be put on hold via the library website.

What will be open:

  • Grocery stores, convenience stores and indoor farmers' markets
  • Big box and discount stores that sell groceries 
  • Pharmacies
  • Liquor stores 
  • Supply chain businesses and those declared essential 
  • Childcare centres and home-based child care
  • Outdoor recreation facilities can keep some services open such as cross-country skiing and outdoor skating provided those who are participating can maintain a two-metre distance
  • Hotels, lodges, cabins, motels. Attached indoor fitness areas, pools and restaurants must be closed
  • Transit services will continue normal service and the Collingwood bus terminal will remain open

Curbside pick-up/appointment only:

  • Small Businesses for curbside pick-up or delivery only 
  • Restaurants for take-out, drive-thru or delivery only
  • Pet stores for curbside pick up only, veterinary clinics for curbside pick up/drop off
  • Cannabis stores for pick-up or delivery only 
  • Garden centres for curbside pick-up or delivery only 
  • Motor vehicle sales by appointment only
  • Vehicle and equipment rental by appointment only 
  • Car mechanic by appointment only 
  • Home sales by appointment only 

What will be closed:

  • Shopping malls closed for in-person retail 
  • Salons
  • In-person driving instruction except for commercial vehicles
  • Indoor sports and recreation and fitness centres
  • Museums, zoos and similar venues
  • Drive-in or drive-thru events are not permitted
  • Night clubs and strip clubs 
  • Ski hills
