NEWS RELEASE
THE TOWN OF BLUE MOUNTAINS
*************************
On behalf of Mayor Alar Soever, council and town staff, the Town of The Blue Mountains would like to wish all residents a happy and safe Easter long weekend.

The town would also like to encourage all residents to stay home, and to avoid leaving the house unless necessary. If you do need to go out, please adhere to all Provincial orders and respect the two-metre physical distancing guideline. As a friendly reminder, the province announced the closure of all grocery stores and pharmacies for Friday, April 10, 2020 and Sunday, April 12, 2020.

In addition, the town would like to stress that enhanced patrols of all public spaces by both the town municipal bylaw enforcement officers and the Ontario Provincial Police will be in effect throughout the long weekend. The town has been trying to keep some public spaces open so residents can enjoy the outdoors. However, the safety of our residents is paramount, and as a result, these spaces will only be kept open if the two-metre physical distancing guideline and the ban on gatherings of more than five people are respected and maintained.

"This is a great opportunity to stay home and connect with family members over the phone or through video chat,” explained Mayor Soever. “Staying at home is your best defence to stay safe and to help ensure the safety of our community. Take time to read, relax, watch a movie or to start a new hobby. On behalf of Council and Town Staff, I would like to wish all of our residents a safe and happy weekend, and I would also like to extend a tremendous thank you to all front line and essential workers throughout the region. Together, we will get through this, one step at a time.”

Any residents who are aware of a violation of any Emergency Orders should contact the town bylaw department by calling 519-599-3131, ext. 249.
