Six new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Simcoe Muskoka today

There are no new cases being reported in Collingwood or surrounding townships, health unit says

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is reporting six new COVID-19 cases in the region today, four of which are in Barrie.

No new deaths were reported today.

The Barrie cases involve two men and two women between the ages of 18 and 34. One case is community acquired and the other three are under investigation.

The other two cases are in Huntsville — a woman between 35 and 44 (close contact) and a man between 45 and 64 (close contact).

A case previously reported in Bradford West Gwillimbury has been reassigned to another health unit.

There are three outbreaks in Simcoe-Muskoka. One is at Roberta Place Long-Term Care Home in Barrie, where one staff member tested positive. Another is at The Pines Long-Term Care Home in Bracebridge. An outbreak was also declared at a food service facility in Muskoka. The health unit has not divulged the name of the business.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 743 coronavirus cases in the region, with 702 of the cases in Simcoe County. Of all the cases in Simcoe-Muskoka, 668 are listed as recovered and 37 people have died. Two people are in hospital — one from Bradford West Gwillimbury and one from New Tecumseth.
