Ontario reports 91 new COVID cases today, 88 yesterday

The province reported four more deaths since Sunday

Public Health Ontario has reported fewer than 100 cases both today and yesterday. 

The province did not release its daily update yesterday due to the holiday, but posted both yesterday and today's update this morning. Yesterday's report includes 88 new cases of COVID, and today's report (Aug. 4) includes 91 new cases of COVID. 

There were four more deaths confirmed since Sunday, including one person between the ages of 40 and 59 years old and three people over the age of 80. 

Of the total 179 total new cases reported since Sunday, 65 of them are individuals between 20 and 39 years old, 49 cases are people aged 19 and under, 46 are individuals between 40 and 59 years old, 15 are between 60 and 79 years old, and five new cases are people over the age of 80. 

Toronto Public Health reported 32 new cases over the last two days, and Peel Public Health reported 26. Windsor-Essex reported 18 cases with nine listed each of the two days.

Windsor-Essex County remains in Stage 2 of Ontario's reopening plan. That is the only area of the province still under Stage 2 restrictions. 

The province has confirmed a total of 39,628 cases of COVID-19 since January, with 35,601 cases now listed as recovered and 2,782 cases have ended in death.

There are now 1,245 active cases of the coronavirus in Ontario. 

Ontario Public Health indicated 42,190 COVID tests were processed over the last two days.  

Locally, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 657 cases of COVID-19 to date, with 626 of those cases located in Simcoe County. The health unit last reported on July 31, and is due to update its local case report later today.

There are 600 cases now recovered and 36 people have died in the region. The health unit indicates there are 21 active cases in the region – all in Simcoe County – and four of those cases are hospitalized.

In Simcoe-Muskoka, the incidence rate for the coronavirus is 110.6 cases per 100,000 people in the population.
