Ontario confirms 100 new COVID cases today

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 100 new cases of COVID-19 in today's update, and has reported two more deaths. 

The province has now reported 2,800 COVID cases that have ended in death. 

According to Public Health Ontario, there have been 2.8 million COVID tests processed in Ontario since the start of the pandemic, including 20,013 tests reported processed since yesterday's update. 

To-date, the province has confirmed 41,607 cases of COVID-19, and has reported 37,748 of those as recovered (90.7 per cent). 

Based on the information provided in today's epidemiological summary, there are now 1,023 active, lab-confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Ontario, which is up from yesterday's 1,016 active cases. There are 39 people hospitalized with COVID-19, including 13 people in intensive care and 10 patients on ventilators.  

There are seven remaining active outbreaks at long-term care homes. 

The province has not yet made today's epidemiological report available publicly, so details on what health units reported today's cases and the ages of the two people who have died is unavailable at this time. 

As of yesterday, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has now reported a total of 686 coronavirus cases in the region, with 654 of the cases in Simcoe County. Of those, 627 cases are now listed as recovered and 37 people have died. 

There are 22 active cases of COVID in Simcoe County, including 10 in Barrie, two in Bradford, two in New Tecumseth, four in Innisfil, one in Wasaga Beach, two in Essa, and one in Penetanguishene.  One person is hospitalized.
