The region's health unit has confirmed six new cases of COVID today (including weekend test results).
The new cases include four Barrie residents and two Bradford West Gwillimbury residents.
Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit also confirmed the locations of the four cases it reported on Friday without specific location data. One of the cases is a Wasaga Beach woman between the ages of 18 and 34 years old. The transmission source for her case is listed as close contact. This is the first case reported in Wasaga Beach since July 19.
The four new Barrie cases include a man and a woman between 45 and 64 years old, a woman between 18 and 34 years old and a woman between 35 and 44 years old. The youngest case is listed as close contact and the remaining cases are listed as under investigation.
The two new Bradford cases are both men between 18 and 34 years old and in both instances, the transmission source is under investigation.
The other three cases reported on Friday include a Barrie woman between 18 and 24 years old (close contact), a New Tecumseth man between 18 and 34 years old (close contact), and an Innisfil man between 45 and 64 years old.
The transmission source for the Collingwood case reported on Thursday – a woman between 45 and 64 years old – is now listed as close contact. The health unit has also indicated the Collingwood case reported on Aug. 20 is recovered.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has now reported a total of 686 coronavirus cases in the region, with 654 of the cases in Simcoe County. Of those, 627 cases are now listed as recovered and 37 people have died.
There are 22 active cases of COVID in Simcoe County, including 10 in Barrie, two in Bradford, two in New Tecumseth, four in Innisfil, one in Wasaga Beach, two in Essa, and one in Penetanguishene. One person is hospitalized.
