New COVID case confirmed in Collingwood

The local case is the only one reported in the region by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit today

A Collingwood woman has tested positive for COVID-19. 

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit confirmed the new case today. This is the first Collingwood case reported in a month, with the last positive result reported on July 20, and before that on May 19. 

The latest case is a woman in her 50s. She is self-isolating and the transmission source is still under investigation. 

This is the 17th case reported in Collingwood since the start of the pandemic. 

The health unit is not posting its usual updates today or tomorrow, but will resume them on Monday. According to a summary from the health unit there were two more recoveries since yesterday's update. 

An old case reported to the health unit in May has now also been added to the list. The health unit confirmed the case was not previously recorded in its daily updates. The case was a man from Essa in his 30s and he has since recovered. 

There have been 676 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe-Muskoka region since the start of the pandemic. Of those, 627 have now recovered and 37 people have died.
