Health unit confirms new COVID-19 case in TBM today

Of the three new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Grey and Bruce Counties today, one is a resident of The Blue Mountains. 

The Grey Bruce Health Unit reported a new case in The Blue Mountains today as well as two new cases in Southgate. 

The health unit reported a new case in The Blue Mountains yesterday and two new cases on Saturday as well. 

There have now been 15 cases of COVID-19 confirmed in The Blue Mountains, with five cases still active. 

The Grey Bruce Health Unit has reported 283 cases of COVID-19 to date and reports 50 of the cases are still active. There are also eight probable active cases being tracked by the health unit, but not yet confirmed by testing. 

Health unit staff are tracing 280 high-risk contacts associated with the region's 50 active cases. 

"It takes a tremendous amount of effort to manage this number of high-risk contacts," states a media release from the health unit. "This number will keep increasing, unless we limit, starting today, our unprotected encounters with all people outside of our own households." 

In Grey County, the health unit has confirmed 197 cases in Grey County to date. The breakdown by municipality is as follows: Owen Sound (69), Southgate (40), Meaford (13), West Grey (17), Blue Mountains (15), Hanover (12), Georgian Bluffs (2), and Chatsworth (1).
