Five new COVID-19 cases reported today in region

There are no new cases in Collingwood area, according to the health unit

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is reporting five new COVID-19 cases in the region today.

No new deaths were reported today.

Two of the cases are in Barrie — a man between 18 and 34 (close contact) and a woman between 18 and 34 (community acquired).

In Innisfil, a case has been confirmed in a man between 45 and 64 as a result of close contact.

A woman between 45 and 64 is the only new reported case in Bradford West Gwillimbury. How she acquired COVID-19 is under investigation.

The health unit is also reporting a new case in Springwater Township — the first one there since July 20 — involving a man between 65 and 79 (community acquired).

There are three outbreaks in Simcoe-Muskoka. One is at Roberta Place Long-Term Care Home in Barrie, where one staff member tested positive. Another is at The Pines Long-Term Care Home in Bracebridge.

An outbreak was also declared at a food service facility in Muskoka.The health unit would not divulge the name of the business.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 738 coronavirus cases in the region, with 699 of the cases in Simcoe County. Of those, 667 cases are listed as recovered and 37 people have died. One person in the region, from Bradford West Gwillimbury, is in hospital.
