COVID-19: Here's the situation in Collingwood today

A woman in her 60s from Collingwood has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the local health unit. 

Hers was one of 28 new cases reported by Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit in an update today. 

There have been a total of 16 cases confirmed in Collingwood residents, and 11 of those people are now reported recovered. There have also been 11 cases reported out of Wasaga Beach, including 10 recoveries and one death; and seven cases reported in Clearview residents including six recoveries and one death. 

Grey Bruce Health Unit has reported five cases in residents from The Blue Mountains.

Ontario has reported 427 new cases of COVID-19 in the province today, along with 15 deaths and 260 recoveries. 

The provincial government has announced it is extending the state of emergency declaration to May 29. Emergency orders will also be extended, though the province has entered phase one of its reopening plan. 

Premier Doug Ford also announced today that Ontario's schools will remain closed for the rest of the school year. 

An employee working at Grey Gables nursing home in Markdale has tested positive for COVID-19, but remains asymptomatic. The health unit is having the employee re-tested to investigate the possibility of a false-positive result. 

Today's essential workers of the day are the staff at Bay Haven Care Community.
